A Higher National Diploma (HND) provides you with the skills you need to succeed, whether you want to pursue further studies at university or develop your current and future career. This internationally renowned HND qualification is considered a foundation course, aimed at students who would like a good knowledge of all Business aspects.
We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognise all other equivalent and international qualifications.
Once students have completed and submitted the application (meeting the entry requirements). Students will have to complete an “FEI entry exam” as part of the selection process. More information will be provided to applicants of the HND programme.
These core units offers students a broad introduction to the subject area. This effectively builds underpinning core skills while preparing for the ‘Management’ subject specialisation at Level 5.

The Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Business Management aims to further develop the students’ skills, knowledge and understanding with a more in-depth focus on Management. Students will develop a sound understanding of the Management principles and will learn to apply those principles more widely.
Graduates awarded BTEC HND Business Management will have strong career prospects in diverse areas of business including advertising, marketing, project management, human resources and administration on completion of the course.
Students will also have the solid business skills needed to pursue an entrepreneurial career.
This qualification will also provide students with a seamless progression onto the 3rd year at university (final year) through a top-up degree including a guranteed place on BA (Hons) International Business Management (Top-up). This option is also available at numerous other UK and international Universities.
An undergraduate degree can be followed by further postgraduate study, for example The Scandinavian Exceutive MBA
This unit provides students with background knowledge and understanding of business, the functions of an organisation and the wider business environment in which organisations operate. Students will examine the different types of organisations (including for profit and not for profit), their size and scope, their size and scope (for instance, micro, SME, transnational and global) and how they operate. In addition, explore relationships that organisations have with stakeholders and the wider external environments.
This unit will introduce students to the principles of marketing, enabling them to develop a basic marketing plan and to employ elements of the marketing mix to achieve results. While they will learn the underpinning theories and frameworks, they will also be able to relate these to real-world examples, including products/services that they encounter in their own lives.
This unit is to enable students to appreciate and apply principles of effective Human Resource Management (HRM). People are the crucial for any organisation and to attract, recruit and retain talented staff is at the core of all HRM activity. The unit will explore the tools and techniques used in HRM. Students will explore the importance of training and development in building and extending the skills base of the organisation and ensuring it is relevant to the ever-changing business environment.
This unit is to help students understand the difference between the function of a manager and the role of a leader. Students will consider the characteristics, behaviours and traits which support effective management and leadership. In addition, this unit will introduce the concept of operations as both a function and a process which all organisations must adopt to conduct business. Contemporary and historical theories and concepts will be introduced which will support students learning.
The aim of this unit is to introduce the fundamentals of management accounting which apply to the wider business environment and the organisations which operate within that environment. Students will explore how management accounting uses financial data to aid planning decisions, and the monitoring and control of finance within organisations.
The aim of this unit is to offer students an opportunity to demonstrate the skills required for managing and implementing a project. They will undertake independent research and investigation for carrying out and executing a business project which meets appropriate business aims and objectives. The theme and chosen project within the theme will enable students to explore and examine a relevant and current topical aspect of business in the context of the wider environments.
The overall aim of this unit is to introduce students to essential financial accounting principles and techniques which will enable them to record and prepare basic final accounts. Balancing the books is at the heart of all business management. Students will therefore learn how to prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships as well as limited companies.
This unit will provide students with an understanding of the definition and scope of entrepreneurship, also of the enablers and barriers to business start-up. Students will learn about the influence of national culture and economy on entrepreneurship, the role and importance of small firms to the economy, social enterprise and the social economy. In addition, students will be expected to understand the balance of risk and reward in starting a new venture and investigate and reflect on their own entrepreneurial characteristics.
This unit prepares students to anticipate, plan and deliver organisational change. Students will also be able to predetermine appropriate and timely interventions required to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks of organisational change. In addition, students will be able to develop sufficient knowledge and understanding of leadership in the context of organisational change to make an effective and immediate contribution to the way in which an organisation determines and responds to change drivers.
The overall aim of this unit is to explore the wider position some organisations have in the global environment. Students will be able to develop an understanding of the wider global environment in which organisations operate. In addition, students will develop an appreciation of the complexities of operating in a global environment, and this will enable them to offer greater breadth and depth to an organisation’s current or aspirational global presence.
E-Commerce refers to any type of commercial/business transaction where information, data, products and services are exchanged across the internet. Students will gain an understanding of how and why businesses and organisations develop E-Commerce strategies – to remain competitive in the global market. In addition, an appreciation will be developed of the elements and resources required to set up an E-Commerce site and be engaged in the design/implementation of their own strategies that would in practice form part of a secure E-Commerce site.
This unit gives students the opportunity to make links between the role and function of human resources (HR) and HR developments. This will enable students to show an awareness of HR as a key contributor to organisational success. In addition, students will be able to develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the role played by HRM in adding value to activities which contribute to the success of an organisation.
This unit aims to develop students’ understanding of contemporary operations theory as a function of a modern organisation. Key benchmarks and processes will be explored, which will enable effective critique of an operation function. In addition, students will also consider the fundamentals of project management utilising the prescribed, but well established, project life cycle. Underpinning all aspects of the content for this unit will be the consideration of the strategic role of operations management, planning, control of resources, project management theories and the project life cycle.
The aim of this unit is to develop a student’s understanding of the influence of culture, politics and power have on the behaviour of individuals and groups in an organisational context. Students will also develop an understanding and awareness of key influences which affect the behaviour of individuals, teams and organisations as a whole. In addition, students will be in a position to appreciate and apply the principles of organisational behaviour to a variety of business situations.
The aim of this unit is to offer students the opportunity to engage in sustained research in a specific field of study. Students will be allowed to choose their own project based on a theme provided for them. This will allow students to explore and examine a relevant current aspect of business in the context of the business environment. In addition, students will be able to demonstrate the capacity and ability to identify a research theme, to develop research aims, objectives, outcomes, and to present the outcomes of such research in both written and verbal formats.

The tuition fee for the HND business course is £6.000 per academic year. The total cost for the two-year HND is £12.000. The tuition fee will be charged in SEK, the amount in SEK may vary depending on the exchange rate.
Students successfully passing the Pearson HND in Business Management are guaranteed a place on the BA (Hons) International Business Mangement (Top –up) to complete their University degree. Choosing this alternative path to achieve a University award has major advantages:
The standard fee at UK universities is £9,250 per academic year, that is £27,750 for a three year Bachelor degree. Studying for a HND followed by a University Top-up will result in a lower total fee, saving £6,500.
