3 questions about the Top-up degree with our student, Simon Eriksson

Simon Eriksson has completed a Higher Vocational Education (YH) programme in international transport and logistics, a shorter YH course in procurement analysis, and separate courses in business administration. In recent years, Simon has been working at a logistics company that operates its own shipping line connecting Sweden, England, Belgium and the Netherlands. His role as Business Area Manager involves daily collaboration with offices and partner operations across Europe. Simon chose to pursue a Top-up degree in International Business Management to acquire the knowledge that will help him grow within the company. His career ambition is to work—and continue developing—in an international environment.
What is the best thing about studying a Top-up degree?
– The best thing about studying a Top-up degree is the opportunity to expand my knowledge and gain the qualification needed to continue studying further. Studying International Business Management complements my previous studies and gives me tools to succeed in an international environment. I gain deeper knowledge that enables me to progress at my workplace and increases my career opportunities for the future.
What is the best thing about studying at FEI, in collaboration with Coventry University in the United Kingdom?
– The best part of studying at FEI in collaboration with Coventry University is the opportunity to attend classes on-site in Stockholm, while all lectures are also available digitally and recorded. For me, working full-time and studying part-time, being able to join the lectures online and revisit them afterwards when needed is ideal. I am also very impressed by both the quality of the programme and the lecturers we have had so far. This Top-up degree has truly exceeded my expectations and provided me with valuable knowledge that I can use in my work.
What is the best thing about the industry you work in?
– I work in the logistics industry and have international contact points, as the work often involves operations across national borders. No two days are alike, which offers great variety. Working in logistics also gives me insight into many other industries and allows me to continuously develop as global trade evolves.
FEI’s Top-up degrees in collaboration with Coventry University
A Top-up degree is an additional year of study designed for those who have a Higher Vocational Education qualification of at least 400 YH credits or have completed 120 university credits. FEI offers four different Top-up degrees in collaboration with Coventry University in the United Kingdom, each leading to a Bachelor of Science, which is recognised as equivalent to a Swedish bachelor’s degree by the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).
Coventry University has worked hard to become a global institution and has established several campuses and initiatives around the world, including Coventry University Group. Coventry University has a constantly expanding international presence, with over 50,000 students currently enrolled in its programmes globally, and collaborates with more than 70 partner institutions in over 40 countries. At present, FEI is the university’s only academic partner in Sweden.
