3 questions about the Top-up degree with our student, Paulina Biörck
Paulina Biörck completed her Higher Vocational Education diploma in procurement at FEI in 2022. With strong ambitions and a clear vision of where she wanted her career to go, she chose to build on her YH qualification and began a one-year Top-up degree in International Business Management in 2023. Here, Paulina answers a few questions about her studies!
What is the best thing about studying a Top-up degree?
– Through the Top-up degree, I had the opportunity to build on my YH qualification and obtain a bachelor’s degree within one year, recognised both nationally and internationally. Starting the Top-up degree is the best decision I have made to improve my language skills and to strengthen my drive towards an international career. I have long wanted to take that step, and the Top-up degree has truly given my career a boost.
What is the best thing about studying at FEI, in collaboration with Coventry University in the UK?
– It has been an enormous privilege to have such incredibly knowledgeable professors and lecturers teaching at a high academic level. It has also been valuable to study alongside like-minded classmates with solid backgrounds, all striving towards similar goals.
What is the best thing about the industry you work in?
– The best part of working in procurement is being part of an ecosystem and contributing to everyone involved along the entire value chain. You are never alone – you work closely with your team. I am very happy to have started working at a global company and to be able to apply what I learned both from my YH studies and from my Top-up degree at FEI. Something particularly enjoyable is that I get to work with the very topic I wrote my bachelor’s thesis on – pricing strategies and pricing models. I am still working at a national level, but I feel supported by my employer. The opportunities to grow internationally are endless, and I’m excited to see where I’ll be in five years!
FEI’s Top-up degree in collaboration with Coventry University
A Top-up degree is an additional year of study designed for those who have a Higher Vocational Education qualification of at least 400 YH credits, or who have completed 120 university credits. FEI offers a Top-up degree in collaboration with Coventry University in the United Kingdom, leading to a Bachelor of Science, which is recognised as equivalent to a Swedish bachelor’s degree by the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).
Coventry University has worked hard to become a global institution and has established several campuses and initiatives worldwide as part of Coventry University Group. Coventry University has a continually expanding international presence, with over 50,000 students enrolled in its programmes around the world, and collaborates with more than 70 partner institutions in over 40 countries. At present, FEI is the university’s only academic partner in Sweden.
